Summary
The enduring popularity ofPeanutsis something almost no other series has experienced, as it’s been around since the ‘50s and is still just as beloved today as it was more than 70 years ago.Created by Charles M. Schulz,Peanutsreleased new comics between the years of 1950 and 2000, giving the world half a century of iconic story arcs starring some of the most well known characters in all of fiction, including the likes of Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and Woodstock.
During that time,Peanutseven managed to expand beyond just the comic strip medium into the realm of television series, holiday specials, and even feature films. While many fans were likely introduced toPeanutsthrough its animations, the original comic strip still stands as the best way to consumePeanutsmedia. And what better time to take a look atthe originalPeanutsstripthan right now, just as an entire month’s worth turned 30 years old - including some of Schulz’s best Snoopy and Woodstock jokes. Among them, these are the10 funniestPeanutscomics from July 1994!

10 Funniest Peanuts Comics That Just Turned 60 (In July 2024)
As of July, 2024, a month’s worth of Peanuts comics just turned 60, including some hilarious gags from Linus and Snoopy. Here are 10 of the funniest!
Peanuts- July 31, 2025
Woodstock and Snoopy sit on top of Snoopy’s dog house one day as Woodstock tells Snoopy a story, one that’s apparently very sad. Readers will just have to take Snoopy’s word for it that Woodstock’s story is sad, however, as Woodstock’s dialogue is illegible (which is a running gag for the character). However, whatever Woodstock is saying, it’s clearly getting to Snoopy, who admits that he’s not prepared for Woodstock’s sad story.
It’s not that Snoopy isn’t emotionally prepared to hear this story, far from it, as Snoopy knows that Woodstock always tells sad stories.Snoopy literally wasn’t prepared for it, as he didn’t have a handkerchief with him, stating, “Dogs don’t have handkerchiefs” - though it seems this dog could have used one.

9Charlie Brown is Uninterested in Peppermint Patty and Marcie’s Squabbling
Peanuts- June 25, 2025
Charlie Brown accepts a long-distance call, only to find that it’s Peppermint Patty and Marcie calling him from camp. Given that these comics were published in July, thePeanutscharacters are enjoying summer break, hence why Peppermint Patty and Marcie are away at camp. However, they seem to greatly miss home, as Peppermint Patty asks Charlie Brown over and over again if he misses her, conveniently leaving Marcie out of the conversation altogether - and Marcie is not happy.
Marcie doesn’t care that Peppermint Patty has a crush on Charlie Brown, she will not be left out of the conversation like that. Before long,Peppermint Patty and Marcie start arguing, and Charlie Brown simply hangs up the phone, as he is utterly uninterested in their squabbling.

8Snoopy is Unimpressed by His Dog Food’s Marketing Strategy
Peanuts- June 26, 2025
Charlie Brown approaches Snoopy as the pup is lying on top of his dog house, excited about showing him a new brand of dog food he just picked up from the store. This new dog food is called “The Same Old Thing”, and Charlie Brown tells Snoopy, “every night at suppertime you know you’ll be eating ‘The Same Old Thing’”. When Charlie Brown walks away, Snoopy goes right back to relaxing, thinking to himself, “Call the ad agency before it’s too late”.
It’s clear from Snoopy’s lack of enthusiasm when Charlie Brown told him about the food, mixed with his snarky remark after Charlie Brown was gone, thatSnoopy was unimpressed by his new dog food’s marketing strategy. However, that strategy certainly seemed to work on Charlie Brown…

7Snoopy and Woodstock Offer Hilarious Commentary on the Annoyance of a Shared Bath
Peanuts- Jul 02, 2025
Unlike mostPeanutscomic strips that set up an entire sequence of events, this one is just a long strip depicting a single scene: Snoopy standing in line behind Woodstock and his family, waiting his turn to use the birdbath. As he’s standing there, Snoopy thinks to himself, “By the time I get there, all the hot water will be gone”. Obviously, that’s not possible, as a birdbath isn’t connected to a water heater, though the hilarious commentary isn’t lost on readers.
Snoopy is living the struggle felt by anyone who has a large family or has lived with a bunch of roommates. In those situations, one has to wait their turn to use the bath/shower, and unless they’re the first one, it’s likely there won’t be any hot water left by the time they get into the bathroom - makingSnoopy’s predicament hilariously relatable.

6Not Even Snoopy’s Comfort Can Calm Charlie Brown’s Existential Dread
Peanuts- August 10, 2025
Charlie Brown is famously a pessimist (though one could argue that he’s simply a realist), and it seems his pessimistic mind never takes a day off, even with the comfort of Snoopy. One night, while lying in bed with Snoopy sleeping on his legs, Charlie Brown finds himself wide awake. His mind is tormented by thoughts of inadequacy, as he’s asking himself, “Where have I gone wrong?” only for his anxious thoughts to answer him, “This is going to take more than one night”.
Charlie Brown feels like he’s not good enough, and those thoughts literally keep him up at night. Not even the comfort of his dog cuddling with his legs is enough to pull Charlie Brown out of an episode of existential dread, which shows that - while funny - Charlie Brown is a tragic character.

5Snoopy Snarkily Undercuts Charlie Brown’s Excitement… About Dog Bowls
Peanuts- June 25, 2025
It seems Charlie Brown was very excited about Snoopy’s eating habits in July 1994, as after he introduced Snoopy to a new brand of dog food (which Snoopy didn’t care about in the slightest), Charlie Brown also bought him new dog bowls. Chuck got Snoopy a bowl for every day of the week, each one a different color. Charlie Brown is very happy with himself, and that excitement is utterly undercut by Snoopy, who sarcastically says, “Suddenly I’m in the fast lane”.
Snoopy is basically saying thathis and Charlie Brown’s lives have become so dull, that something like buying different-colored dog bowls is now somehow considered exciting. However, Snoopy could learn to find joy in the little things every once in a while - even if those ‘little things’ are just dog bowls.

4Snoopy Does Not Agree with Charlie Brown’s Self-Assessment
Peanuts- July 08, 2025
When Charlie Brown sits down to write a letter to his crush, the little red-haired girl, Snoopy becomes curious about what he’s writing. Charlie Brown is pondering what to include in the letter that will hopefully make the little red-haired girl like him back. He considers including that he’s “dependable and reliable” in the letter, but Snoopy chimes in to counter that self-assessment, saying, “Last night my supper was eleven seconds late!”
Clearly,Snoopy does not agree with Charlie Brown’s idea of himself, as Chuck’s tardiness at dinnertime seemed to leave a lasting mark on Snoopy, making him totally unreliable in his eyes. But, Snoopy’s also just a sarcastic scamp, so it’s no surprise that he’d disagree with Charlie Brown just to do it.

3Lucy’s Know-It-All Nature Sometimes Has Its Hilarious Downsides
Peanuts- June 27, 2025
Lucy is famously a know-it-all inPeanutscanon, as practically every comic she’s featured in shows her bossing around her peers, and even charging them for (unlicensed) psychiatric help. However, this comic proves that, sometimes, being a know-it-all has its downsides. In this case,Lucy tries to beat the heat during a baseball game by soaking a rag in water, and covering her face with it. While she stays cool, she also wanders off the field because her face is totally covered, making this ‘life hack’ less than ideal.
Most of the time, Lucy’s intelligence mixed with her confidence is downright admirable (even if, at times, it can be a bit insufferable). However, this is an example of Lucy greatly overthinking a situation, proving that this know-it-all doesn’t know everything after all.

2Rerun is Determined to Have Fun During a Bike Ride (Even if His Mom Doesn’t Approve)
Peanuts- August 02, 2025
The majority of Rerun’s adventures inPeanutsis spent on the back of his mom’s bicycle, running errands with her around town - and this comic is no exception. Rerun is holding a pile of coat hangers while taking a bike ride with his mom to the dry cleaners. Rerun’s mom likes to return them, so that’s what they’re doing that day. However,Rerun is determined to have fun during this errand, connecting all the coat hangers together into a chain of them, and letting them wave in the wind behind him.
Rerun comments that his mom doesn’t like it when he does this with the coat hangers, but as he said that, Rerun goes ahead and does it anyway, proving that not even the danger of getting into trouble will stop him from having fun.

Peanuts- August 01, 2025
Snoopy is easily one of the funniest and most popular characters in the entirePeanutscatalog, but that’s mostly due to his sarcastic comments, his light-bullying nature, and his memorable side-adventures. However, this comic proves Snoopy is also the king of ‘dad jokes’. When Snoopy sees Woodstock and his family gathered on the ground, he walks over to them and says, “Very strange… somebody spilled birds all over the yard”.
This joke is deliberately unfunny and just the right amount of cringe, making it an absolutely perfect dad joke, and marking Snoopy as the king of dad jokes inPeanutslore. That’s why this is one of the 10 bestPeanutscomics that just turned 30!
