Summary
While the two books in theSix of Crowsduology were great, a third spinoff book could tell an incredible revenge story. Leigh Bardugo’s Grishaverse is beloved, but some of the most beloved characters in that beloved universe are Kaz Brekker’s Crows, a.k.a. the Dregs. That includes Kaz’s right-hand woman and master spy, Inej Ghafa, a.k.a. The Wraith. Kaz would never have been able to gain control of the Dregs or pull off the impossible heist of Fjerda’s Ice Court palace without Inej. Kaz is the brains and the mastermind, but without Inej’s skills as a spy, he’d never have had the intel needed to become Dirtyhands.
Even though thebooksSix of CrowsandCrooked Kingdomwere well-balanced in terms of giving each of the Crows time on page and great character development, there were still a few unfinished threads. In particular,Inej’s story could definitely use some more fleshing out, as there was so much left on the table by the end of the duology. If there’s evera third book in theSix of Crowsseries– and there certainly could be considering the storylines that have been set up – it can and should focus on Inej and her story post-Crooked Kingdom.

Who Are The Six Of Crows? Every Member Of Kaz Brekker’s Crew Explained
The Shadow and Bone TV show never showed the official “Six of Crows” working together; these are the original six members of Kaz’s crew in the books.
A Third Six Of Crow’s Book Can Top Kaz’s Revenge Story By Focusing On Inej
Inej Has Just As Much Reason To Want Revenge On Those Who Wronged Her
TheSix of Crows/Crooked Kingdomduology was great. Not only wasSix of Crowsan enemies-to-lovers romance, a heist plot, and a story of a team coming together, but it was also a great revenge story with the subplot of Kaz Brekker finally taking his revenge against Pekka Rollins.Pekka, of course, was the grifter who scammed Kaz’s older brother, Jordie, out of all their money when they came to Ketterdam. His con left the boys penniless on the street right as a plague hit Ketterdam, which killed Jordie and left Kaz scarred for life.
Despite how great that story was,a revenge story starring Inej could be even more epic.Inej’s backstory of being stolen by slavers and separated from her family when she was only 14 is just as heartbreaking as Kaz’s is, except not as much time was devoted to it. Inej has the determination to track down her captors and reunite with her family. When she’s last seen in the books, too, she’s in the perfect position to do the former.

Inej’s Crooked Kingdom Ending Perfectly Sets Up A Sequel Book
Her Story Is Touched Upon In Rule Of Wolves
The ending ofCrooked Kingdomfinds Kaz surprising Inej with having bought her a ship, and also tracking down her parents and bringing them to Ketterdam for a reunion. His act sets a fire in Inej’s heart to find all slavers, especially the ones that took her, and exact her retribution against them. In the secondKing of Scarsbook,Rule of Wolves, it’s revealed she’s expanded her operations. Naming her shipThe Wraith,Inej has continued to hunt down slavers and make them pay for their crimes. At the end of those books, the Crows are given a new mission by Zoya. So, whether it’s on her own or with the Crows, the books left plenty of runway to launch a story focusing on Inej’s revenge.
Another Six Of Crows Book Would Give Readers Closure Over Kaz & Inej
Their Relationship Needs Some Sort Of Definitive Ending
One other thing a newSix of Crowsbook could dois offer some closure about Inej and Kaz’s relationship. When they last left off at the end ofCrooked Kingdom, it was clear they loved each other. But Kaz’s issues with intimacy and Inej’s burning desire to set off on her revenge mission and right some wrongs kept them from being together. Still, that bond still exists between them and it would be interesting to see how their relationship has changed with some time and distance between them.
Assuming a thirdSix of Crowsbook that includes Inej would pick up after the events ofRule of Wolves, both Inej and Kaz would have had lots of time to grow. They’d also have had time to consider their feelings for one another and whether they’re willing to make it work or not. Considering their story so far, the answer is likely “not,” but it would be great to finally get closure and confirmation there one way or another. Readers would love to see it, but more importantly, Kaz and Inej deserve it. They’ve both been through so much together, but it’s one big, last puzzle piece that needs to be sorted before their story can be fully complete.
