Summary
Warning: Spoilers forNo Longer Allowed in Another WorldMost viewers and especially those who are just aware ofNo Longer Allowed in Another World’s basic premise onCrunchyrollunderstandably focus on the brutally dark aspect of this new isekai, but after getting over the initial shock of this controversial storyline, a few might notice some of the underlining positive messaging. No Longer Allowed in Another Worldalso gives some fun twists to well-knownisekai tropesthat critics could find enjoyable.
What critical viewers should latch onto isn’t Sensei’s dreary perspective on life or his problematic goals that are unfortunately portrayed comically, but howhis intense negativity remarkably impacts those around him positively.

More specifically, it’s important to note this anime’s take on the first person who usually greets isekai protagonists in their new world, Annette. Viewers should realize how Annette interprets her role, how that perspective has been sullied over time, and, most importantly, how Sensei restored her original point of view.
This Isekai Explores How The Most Depressed Person Can Help Other People’s Lives Positively
Based on the manga by writer Hiroshi Noda and illustrator Takahiro Wakamatsu
In many cases, the first characters thatisekai protagonistsmeet are either mortals who summoned them for selfish reasons like saving their world or gods who try to help them because they want to make amends for killing them accidentally or for how bad their previous life was. For Annette, she meets everyone who is transported to her world, and she once found excitement and fulfillment in helping those who had horrible lives have a better one as an adventurer and hero.
However, the more people she met, the more jaded she became because of their horrible personalities. She had effectively lost passion in her work, which was once very noble and honorable.Sensei’s dark, brooding natureends up diverging so much from everyone else Annette ever worked with that she immediately finds purpose in her cause.

In other words, Sensei’s controversial drive restores the faith that Annette had once lost in her noble line of work. Of course, the anime also went out of its way to later reveal that Annette also has a crush on Sensei. However, it’s clear that Annette’s romantic feelings are associated with how Sensei helped her care about her role as a guide once more. In fact, this is likely the source of her crush.
This Isekai May Be Too Dark For Some Viewers
Although the anime does make light of Sensei’s unfortunate state of mind and his attempts on his own life, there are still many episodes left in the first season, and it’s possible thatNo Longer Allowed in Another Worldwill eventually move away from this darker subject matter while uncovering more positives along the way.
Hopefully, viewers will be able to find enjoyment in this otherwise bleak storyline, like its many twists on well-known tropes. One of them directly references the stereotypical isekai truck by giving it an official role rather than just relegating its many appearances in almost every other isekai up to chance.
More importantly, fans cannot forget that, whileNo Longer Allowed in Another Worldmakes fun of Sensei’s dark tendencies, this is a very real phenomenon and that if they or anyone else struggles with any dark thoughts, reaching out for help is always the best option.
