Summary

I already thought theJustice Leaguehaving dinosaur counterparts was wild, even by comic standards. Just as I was getting used to the idea of a Jurassic League with dino versions of Wonder Woman, Batman, Superman, and the rest, I got hit with the mind-blowing reveal that BUG versions of DC’s heroes also exist. At this point, I can’t decide whether to laugh or cry.

Booster Gold’s bug form was not on my 2024 DC Comics bingo card, but I am absolutely loving it.

Mark Russell and Jon Mikel conclude their Booster Gold-centric story,Time Jerks, inBatman: The Brave and the Bold#15. This time-traveling tale featuresMichael Carter meeting the Jurassic Leagueand also teaming up with the Justice League to stop an asteroid from hitting Earth.

However, their mission takes an unexpected turn when Bugster Gold, the bug version of Booster Gold, intervenes. He sends the heroes 65 million years into the past in order to prevent them from stopping the asteroid so that his insect species can thrive in the future (yes, you read that correctly).

MEET BUGSTER GOLD: Booster Gold’s Insect Form Is Revealed in Jurassic League Crossover

I’ll be honest: Booster Gold’s bug form was not on my 2024 DC Comics bingo card, but I am absolutely loving it. One of the reasons I read comics is for those wacky, unexpected moments, andTime Jerksdelivered that in spades, especially with its latest release. I’m no bug expert, butBooster seems to be some kind of leaf bug.Regardless of the insect type, this might be one of the derpiest reimaginings of a DC hero. The fact that this bugged-out version of the time-traveling hero is named Bugster Gold is just the cherry on top.

What makes Booster’s bug form even better are the implications that come with it. From the Jurassic League, we’ve learned that there is essentially adinosaur version of every Justice League hero. If we apply this logic to the existence of Bugster Gold, it means there are also insect versions of all the Justice League heroes. This is such a fun revelation to ponder, imagining what types of bugs each hero would be. If I were a betting woman,I’d put my money on Superman being some type of blue, flying beetle and Batman being a rhinoceros beetle.

I Honestly Can’t Decide If I like Booster Gold’s Dinosaur or Insect Form Better

As mentioned before, every Justice League hero has a dinosaur form, and inBatman: The Brave and the Bold#14,fans met Booster’s dino counterpart—Boostersaurus. Boostersaurus is just as derpy as Bugster Gold in both design and personality. Hence, it’s tough to choose which version of the time-traveling hero I like best. However, if I had to pick, I’d go with Bugster Gold because there is nothing else like him in the DC Universe, making him exceptionally unique. Still, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that DC reveals the rest of theJustice Leaguebug counterparts one day.
