Warning! Contains spoilers for Cobra Kai season 6, part 1.
Summary
As many story developments inCobra Kaiseason 6’s part 1 suggest, it seems to have forgotten John Kreese’s season 5 ending. In its initial moments,Cobra Kaiseason 5 made viewers empathize with Kreese by highlighting how he regretted treating Johnny harshly when he was younger. The season also brought out a vulnerable side of him that previous seasons had never explored. However, after giving audiences the hope that Kreese would finally get a shot at redemption,Cobra Kaiseason 5’s endingtook a dramatic turn.
In the season’s final arc, John Kreese gets stabbed by a fellow inmate after he attempts to stop a fight inside the prison. However, when he gets escorted to a nearby hospital, it turns out that he had faked the stabbing incident to escape prison. With what follows, he brutally attacks two police officers before heading out. His prison escape hints that even though he will return forCobra Kai’s next installment, he may not enjoy the level of freedom he once did because he is on the run from law enforcement. Strangely, however,Cobra Kaiseason 6’s part 1seems to gloss over this season 5 development.

Everything Cobra Kai Season 6 Revealed About Mr. Miyagi’s Secret Past
Through a box full of Mr. Miyagi’s belongings, Daniel learns a lot more about Mr. Miyagi’s mysterious past in Cobra Kai season 6 than he ever expected
Kreese Showing Up For The Sekai Taikai Makes No Sense After His Cobra Kai Season 5 Ending
Kreese’s Criminal Background Should Have Prevented Him From Traveling
InCobra Kaiseason 5’s initial moments, John Kreese trains Sensei Kim’s new students in an isolated place. This seems plausible because the hidden location of the training camp makes it hard not to believe that Kreese is far away from the eyes of law enforcement. As the season progresses, however, Kreese’s narrative becomes more and more over-the-top, establishing that season 6 is completely ignoring the villainous character’s season 5 ending.
Even if he somehow managed to get himself out of the United States, how did he officially register himself as a sensei at the Sekai Taikai despite having a criminal background?

There is a scene inCobra Kaiseason 6 where Kreese suddenly emerges in broad daylight to talk to Tory even though he is a wanted criminal. Towards theend ofCobra Kaiseason 6’s episode 5, Kreese also shows up for the Sekai Taikai tournament, which is being held in Barcelona,Spain. Since Kreese is a wanted felon after his season 5 prison escape,it is hard not to question how he flew to Spain. Even if he somehow managed to get himself out of the United States, how did he officially register himself as a sensei at the Sekai Taikai despite having a criminal background?
How Cobra Kai Season 6 Can Fix This John Kreese Plot Hole?
Season 6 Can Repeat A Mr. Miyagi Storyline
Cobra Kaiseason 6 reveals that Mr. Miyagi had a fake identity, which he seemingly used to flee the United States after reportedly being involved in a violent robbery. The show could pull off something similar to explain how Kreese went to Spain. Instead of completely ignoring season 5’s ending, season 6 could justestablish that Kreese adopted a fake identity to fly out of the USand register himself as a sensei at the Sekai Taikai tournament. That would still stretchCobra Kaiseason 6’s suspension of disbelief too far but would, at least, maintain narrative consistency instead of creating plot holes.
