Summary
Fallout: Londonhas just been released, and with it comes entirely new factions, fully-voiced characters, and iconicnew locations pulled directly from the United Kingdom. Perhaps the biggest standout from the entire game, however, is the loveableEnglish bulldog known as Churchill. Named after the iconic PM of the UK during WW2, the new inclusion couldn’t be more perfect for a British-themed total conversion mod.
That said, it also leaves those over in the States or anyone who prefers to stick to the vanilla versions of theFalloutgames in a bit of a quandary when it comes to dog breeds.Fallouthas famously included dogs in their IP, with the latestFalloutTV show on Amazon Prime revealing more about theorigins of man’s best friend in theFalloutuniverse. That said, to truly satiate the dog fans out there, one important thing needs to change about theFalloutgames.

10 Biggest Fallout: London Changes & Differences
Fallout: London is a total conversion mod that has changed almost everything in Fallout 4 to give players the closest thing they can get to a sequel.
The History Of Dogs In Fallout
A Post-Apocalyptic Best Friend
Across all of theFalloutgames, there have been a variety of dogs beyond just the famous companion Dogmeat.Fallout New Vegashad Audaz, Basura, and Colmillo, who lived in the Gibson Scrapyard. Even the originalFalloutincluded Dogmeat and another Siberian Husky named Sasha, establishing that other dog breeds survived the Great War, likely possessing similar abilities to Dogmeat due to radiation or genetic modification. Baddog would follow this inFallout 2and was said to be a menace to the vault dwellers.
InFallout 76, it’s possible to tame creatures, including an attack dog and a wolf.

More recently, the obvious Dogmeat has been a potential companion in theFalloutgames, but there are other breeds featured in the game, like the bloodhound Duke — that appears in theFallout 4 Far HarborDLC. Sadly, the dog can’t be recruited as a companion as it is Erickson’s pet. There are even more variations of dogs in the game like cyberdogs and half-ghoul dogs called Mongrels, as well as a mutant hound named Gracie fromFar Harbor. However, there isone thing the mainline games are lacking, and that’s a variety of dog breeds as companions.
Fallout 4: How To Get All 16 Companions
With 16 unique characters to choose from in Fallout 4 the Sole Survivor is spoiled for choice for companions to join them on their journey.
Fallout 5 Should Include More Dog Breeds For Companions
German Shepherds Are Awesome, But More Variety Is Welcome
AlthoughDogmeat is a mainstay in the mainlineFalloutgames and shouldn’t ever be removed, adding a bit more variety to the number of breeds in the game would be a fun way for Bethesda to expand upon one of the most beloved NPCs in the franchise. Churchill fromFallout: Londonproves how much players enjoy even just a re-skin of the companion, as the dog has the same perks as Dogmeat in the base game and is virtually the same, beyond looking completely different.
Going a step further, it would be neat if specific dog breeds provided specific perks. Bloodhounds could be good at hunting down high-quality items in loot crates, while pit bulls could possess more HP and hit harder. Although theFalloutTV show expanded on the origins of Dogmeat and her extraordinary abilities via genetic modification, similar lore could be used to explain why other pets would be viable. Luckily for players ofFallout 4, there are mods, like theSiberian Huskymod, that help reskin and add more variations of pets to the game.
