As production ofFalloutseason begins, Walton Goggins reflects on the impact of season1 following its release from his meetings with fans across the globe. Based on the beloved Bethesda video game franchise, the Prime Video series follows Ella Purnell’s Lucy as she steps outside the safety of her underground Vault home into the irradiated wastelands that were once America following a cataclysmic nuclear conflict. Alongside Purnell and Goggins,Fallout’s cast includesAaron Moten, Kyle MacLachlan, Moises Arias, Leslie Uggams, Johnny Pemberton, Sarita Choudhury, and Michael Emerson.
With production onFalloutseason 2 soon set to get fully underway, Goggins looked back on how season 1 has been received while speaking toEntertainmentWeekly. Goggins is familiar with being recognized in public for his roles, but the 2024 post-apocalyptic series has brought out the most reactions he has seen throughout his career - the actor recalls how he met three separate fans who praised the show during a family trip to Istanbul:

I’ve been fortunate to get stopped in public for not really one thing but a variety of projects over the years. Then, all of a sudden, people were talking about Fallout more than anything else. There was a moment when I was walking down the street with my wife and my son in Istanbul, where within the span of a block, someone from Iraq who was there on vacation came up, someone from Syria came up, and someone from Kurdistan came up. We were walking and eating baklava after having a glass of wine at a restaurant, then there were these three encounters, one right after another. We all looked at each other with such love in our hearts and had long conversations.
With these three meetings, Goggins began to appreciate howFallouthas been a hit across the globe and resonated with viewers from a variety of cultural backgrounds, something the actor is proud of. Check out Goggins' response below:

We did something that is reaching across countries. It’s breaking down those barriers and becoming something that people are sharing in. At this stage of my life, I’m grateful to be a part of it.
What Fallout’s Success Could Mean For Future Seasons
A Strong Debut Could Inspire Bolder Story Choices
It is undeniable thatFallouthas had an incredible impact that extends far beyond the franchise’s established fan base, as critics and general audiences were quick to embrace it. Alongside near-unanimous praise and high viewership, season 1 has attracted several award nominations from various organizations and even sparked renewed interest in the video game franchise. With the series able to establish itself so strongly upon it’s debut, there are several ways that it can inspire the direction of the second season’s production.
Fallout Show Timeline: When It Takes Place Compared To The Games
Prime Video’s Fallout show tells a new story within the Fallout universe, but when and where does it take place compared to the video games?
While it faithfully adapted the world of the video game, the television series had been carefully developed by co-showrunners Graham Wagner and Geneva Robertson-Dworet and producer Jonathan Nolan, who were tasked to intentionally avoid adapting major storylines from the franchise and focus on their own settings. However, with the series being a hit among dedicated fans and newcomers alike, the creatives behind the series may be more willing to revisit the plot points and characters established in the game and bring them into their character’s journeys.

Falloutseason 1 concluded with a teasefor a visit to New Vegas long after the events of the 2011 video game that could offer a definitive canonical answer to the story’s player-driven routes, so similar open-ended mysteries could be answered should future seasons receive a similar response to the debut.
Our Thoughts On Fallout’s Global Success
Despite Early Fears, The Series Proved There’s Plenty Of Life After The End Of The World
WithFalloutsolidifying itself as one of2024’s standout television series, it may be hard to believe how the series was originally met with trepidation. Despite the acclaimed cast and crew, bringing the franchise into live-action was no small feat, and Prime Video’s decision to break from its typical major TV series release strategy and release all the episodes at once created worries that the streamer had little faith in the show.
Fallout Season 2: Cast, Story & Everything We Know
Prime Video’s adaptation of the ever-popular video game Fallout has arrived with its critically-acclaimed first season, and season 2 is on the way.
Nevertheless,Fallouthas succeeded in leaving audiences across the globe enthralled, and Goggins' experience shows that the cast and crew are well-aware. With such a positive response to Lucy’s first chapter, it is likely that the series will be a mainstay for the streamer for the foreseeable future.
