8 Ways The Boys Season 4’s Ending Sets Up Gen V Season 2
The Boys season 4 was heavily informed by the events of Gen V, with the finale directly setting up a lot of plot points for Gen V season 2.
Given the sheer betrayal and mind-warping she’s done to Marie and her friends, Cate’s path to redemption inGen Vseason 2is going to be a hard road for her. It’s currently unclear how Marie, Jordan and Emma are being permitted to return to GodU, despite being the scapegoats of the season 1 finale rampage, but with Cate bringing them back, it could be explained that she advocated for their release. Given how dedicated Marie was to making a better name for herself at the university, this could build a bridge towards a semblance of forgiveness.

The other major way Cate could redeem herself in the eyes of her former friends inGen Vseason 2is to turn her remorse into working against Vought and GodU overall. She could use her position inside the company to work as a sort of double agent for Marie, Jordan and Emma, and even use her mind-controlling powers to try and bring Sam back to the positive side of the fight. With The Deep also being around, though, Cate may find herself even further under Vought scrutiny throughout season 2.
