What Will Google Announce at I/O 2023?

Google hasn’t officially revealed what it plans to show at I/O, but we can make some smart guesses based onthings Google revealed at I/O 2022last year and credible rumors. Here are some of the things we expect to see at Google I/O 2023.

The Pixel 7a is all but confirmed to launch at Google I/O 2023, and it’s one of the most hyped mid-range Android phones of the year considering how well-received its predecessor was.

Some of thefeatures we expect to see on the Pixel 7ainclude a smooth 90Hz display, the Tensor G2 processor, a new main camera, and a new design very similar to that of the flagship Pixel 7. Rumors suggest the device will start at $499 and will be available for purchase immediately after the announcement on the officialGoogle Store.

Pixel Fold

The Pixel Fold is one of theGoogle products we’re looking forward tothe most in 2023. The device will be Google’s first foldable smartphone, and according to rumors and leaks, is likely to start at $1799 and look similar to the Oppo Find N2 which means it’ll be shorter and broader than the Samsung Galaxy Fold 4.

Since the Pixel Fold is a first-gen product, it could have some teething problems, so it might be wiser to not pre-order the device if Google does indeed end up launching it at I/O.

New AI Tools

Google will also announce a lot of new AI tools and capabilities. Aside from its chatbot Bard that’s meant to compete with ChatGPT, we know that the company is soon also going to integrategenerative AI into the Workspace appsincluding Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Meet.

I/O 2023 will provide more details on these projects and may also offer insights on many other upcoming ones that Google is working on behind the scenes.

Pixel Tablet

Google showcased the Pixel Tablet last year at I/O 2022, and then again during the Pixel launch event in October. There aren’t many surprises left, but we should finally find out the price and launch date.

For context, the device is not meant to compete with the Galaxy Tab series but will instead be targeted at those looking for a basic tablet to keep at home for everyday use.

Android 14

I/O 2023 will also give us better insights into all the new bells and whistles of Android 14, especially new privacy and security features. We’re not expecting Android 14 to be a major update by any means, but we did see some minor butnifty features in the Android 14 Beta 1.

Pixel Watch 2

Google released its debut smartwatch, the Pixel Watch, at I/O last year… and it’s not great. The device suffers from poor battery life, a small screen, huge bezels, and has some features locked behind a subscription paywall. All that’s on top of the hefty $350 price tag. Suffice to say, we’re expecting the Pixel Watch 2 to be better in every way.

I/O 2023 Will Unveil New Products and AI Tools

The Pixel 7a, Pixel Fold, Pixel Watch 2, and Pixel Tablet will be among the many things Google will talk about at I/O 2023. Alongside new hardware, the company will also announce new AI tools and deliver updates on Android 14’s roadmap. Just like last year, it may also give us a sneak peek into upcoming products such as the Pixel 8 series.

The Pixel Fold is set to be Google’s first foldable Android phone. Here’s a look at its expected design, price, and top features.
