While Spotify is a good streaming service for entertainment, it can also help you stay productive. Here’s how Spotify helps me stay productive throughout my day, from work tasks to exercising.

1Increasing My Focus While Working

My work involves a lot of reading and re-reading, as well as looking at spreadsheets. I have ADHD, so repetition is not great for maintaining my concentration. But what helps a lot is listening to music in the background while I work.

I ensure to listen to music I’m familiar with so that I don’t get too drawn into new lyrics and unfamiliar beats. Despite the familiarity with the songs, they provide that extra bit of mental stimulation that I need to concentrate on the tasks I need to complete.

2Providing Entertainment During Chores

Besides podcasts, I also listen to my most recently liked songs. It’s like a reward for scheduling 10 minutes during the day to roast dinner in the air fryer and clean up the kitchen.

When it comes to longer chores, like gardening and shearing plants, a longer podcast—or even an audiobook—helps keep me focused on the task at hand. WhileSpotify offers audiobooksin some regions, in my region I have to use an alternative for audiobooks like Audible.

3Providing a Boost While Exercising

Audio entertainment is also great for when you’re exercising. It takes your mind off the exertion and provides entertainment when you’re doing warm ups and cool downs.

My nightly exercise routine consists mostly of yoga and physiotherapy exercises, so it’s a great time to listen to podcasts. I can catch up on the news of the day or listen to an interesting bit of history.
