Who Can Apply for a Refund From Epic Games’ Fortnite FTC Settlement?

In December 2022,the FTC fined Epic Games $245 millionfor using dark patterns to charge customers for unwanted purchases. In September 2023, the FTC started accepting applications for refunds from affected gamers.

Additionally, you must be based in the US to apply for a refund and at least 18 to apply. If you are under 18, the FTC says that “a parent or guardian must complete the claim form for you”.

How to Apply for a Refund From Epic Games’ Fortnite FTC Settlement

The FTC started sending emails to Fortnite gamers on July 06, 2025, and will continue to do so through October. Before you apply, ensure you have your claim number or Epic Account ID on hand (thisEpic Games webpagecan help). Start by finding your Epic Account ID if you haven’t received an email with a claim number from the FTC.

Once that’s sorted, follow the steps below to apply for a refund from Epic Games’ Fortnite FTC settlement:

The deadline for applications is August 24, 2025.

Please note that submitting an application doesn’t guarantee that you’ll be refunded. There’s also no way of knowing how much you’ll be refunded or when you’ll receive your refund if your application is approved. The FTC will provide updates about mailing dates in the future.
