Tandemaus is finally making its long-awaitedPokémon GOdebut, arriving alongside its evolution Maushold. This adorable Normal-type creature first appeared in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet’s Paldea region, but you’ll now be able to catch it on your mobile device. True to its tiny size, Tandemaus isn’t going to be easy to find, as there’s a specific method you’ll need to use to encounter it.

Known as the Couple Pokémon in the Pokedex, Tandemaus is actually two separate mouse-like creatures who work together in battle. When Tandemaus evolves into Maushold, the Pokémon gains one or two extra mice in its family. These cute critters are arriving inPokémon GOas part of theUltra Unlock: Better Together event on August 03, 2025, so it’s time to grow your collection.

How To Get Tandemaus In Pokémon GO

It’s A Tricky Little Creature

Up to four Trainers can take part in a single Party Play session, but everyone will need to be at least Level 15 to use the feature. During the Ultra Unlock: Better Together event, which runs from July 17 to July 05, 2025, you’ll also be able toencounter Tandemaus as a reward for completing free Timed Research. If you don’t have room for any more Field Research tasks inPokémon GO, you can always delete some existing ones by going to your Field Research list and tapping the little trash can icon next to them.

Right now, it doesn’t seem that Tandemaus will be available to encounter as a regular wild spawn inPokémon GO, which means it could be quite difficult to obtain for anyone who doesn’t have local friends or family who play the game. Party Play requires you to be in close proximity with other Trainers, so take advantage of Tandemaus appearing as Timed Research and Field Research rewards while you may.

Tandemaus and its evolution Maushold in Pokemon GO

How To Evolve Tandemaus Into Maushold In Pokémon GO

Time To Stock Up On Candy

You canevolve Tandemaus into Maushold by spending 50 Tandemaus Candy. There are no other evolution requirements, making this a relatively easy process to complete. Remember to use Pinap Berries when catching Tandemaus to get a boost in Candy. You can also set Tandemaus as your Buddy and explore the real world together to find some extra Candy.

In the mainlinePokémon Scarlet & Violetgames,Maushold has two separate forms:Family of Four and Family of Three. The standard evolution is the Family of Four form, but there’s a 1-in-100 chance of getting the Family of Three form. It’s currently unclear how these forms will work inPokémon GO, but chances are it will be random, just like it was inScarlet & Violet.

Regular Tandemaus and Shiny Tandemaus appearing on the Pokemon GO map

The difference between Maushold’s Family of Four form and its Family of Three form is purely visual, meaning there’s no meaningful variation between the two. They’ll also count as the same entry in the Pokedex, so don’t worry too much about getting both forms.

Can Tandemaus Be Shiny In Pokémon GO?

Shiny Tandemaus is currently unavailable inPokémon GO. It’s very rare for a new Pokémon to debut alongside itsshiny variant, as Niantic usually saves these rare encounters for a later occasion to drum up excitement among collectors. There can be several years to wait between a regular debut and a shiny debut in the game, so it’s impossible to say when it will be available.

For now, you’ll have to make do with regular Tandemaus, but keep an eye out for any futurePokémon GOevents that feature the Couple Pokémon as that could be when Shiny Tandemaus squeaks its way into the game. You can see what the regular and shiny versions of Tandemaus look like in the image above. They’re very similar to one another, making them almost indistinguishable.
