There are countless ways to improve in the game and rank up faster, such as understanding the new Perks system and mastering your hero’s kit, knowing hero counters, opting for the high ground, and so on. A tip we’ve observed fromFlatsin his “Spectating Bronze” series, for example, is to swing Reinhardt’s hammer and make some space for your teammates. This tank hero does have a shield, but soaking damage with it isn’t Reinhardt’s sole purpose.

How ranked mode works in Overwatch 2
When you enter either Competitive Role Queue and Competitive Open Queue Overwatch 2, you can get a quick overview of your teammates and the opposing team before selecting a hero. The Competitive Role Queue game mode means you’re locked in for certain roles while the Competitive Open Queue option means you can switch to any role available.
Next, play Overwatch 2 as usual and work with your teammates to win the most rounds if the map calls for it. That is, there are different maps in the game, and your team and team composition may need to adapt to successfully, for example, push the payload the furthest or be the first to secure every control point.
A final score screen appears upon match completion. It’s then that you gain some Competitive Points for either a win or draw. You earn 10 points for a victory and 5 points for a draw. If you collect enough of these points, then you can spend them for some in-game rewards such asGalactic weapon variants, player titles, and weapon charms.
This Overwatch 2 screen also lets you know about your rank progression. For example, your first rank can be updated after completing 10 placement matches.
Overwatch 2 ranks explained
There are nine Overwatch 2 ranks in total. They are Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Master, Grandmaster, Champion, and Top 500. Note that each rank has a division as well. Below are all of them. According to Blizzard, you can enter a match in a wide or narrow group, too. Wide groups let you party up with friends who may be divisions apart. Meanwhile, narrow groups have players who are all close in rank.
