Accessing ClickUp Whiteboards

Thankfully,ClickUpwhiteboards are available on all plans, including the free one. However, based on your plan, there are limits to the number of whiteboards you can create:

How to Add a Whiteboard View in ClickUp

Whether you’re using ClickUp 2.0 or 3.0, you can add whiteboards as a view in your workspace—using either the sidebar, the views bar, or the quick action menu. Here’s how.

1. Add a Whiteboard View From the Sidebar

Under the Spaces section in the sidebar, hover over the space, folder, or list where you want to add your whiteboard and click theellipsis icon.

2. Add a Whiteboard View From the Views Bar

Click the space, folder, or list where you want to add your new whiteboard view, then select+ Viewfrom the view bar.

3. Add a Whiteboard View From the Quick Action Menu

Click theQuick Action button(the four-colored dots) in the bottom right corner and selectNew Whiteboardfrom the menu.

If you’re using ClickUp 3.0, you can access the Quick Action menu from the grid icon in the top right corner of your toolbar.

Workspaceis set as the default location of your new whiteboard. In ClickUp 2.0, this means you’ll be able to access it as a view in the Everything space. You can change this location by clicking the drop-down arrow.

Enter a name for your whiteboard, toggle thePrivatemode on if you don’t want members in your workspace to have access to it, and clickCreate whiteboardwhen you’re done.

Pick a Whiteboard Template in ClickUp

When you create a new whiteboard, the template library opens up. There are currently nine whiteboard templates to choose from, so you can check them out to see if you’ll find one you can work with. If you don’t want to use a template, clickStart from scratch.

Even if you start with a blank canvas, you’re able to always access the templates library by clicking thetemplate button(magic wand) in the whiteboard toolbar.

TheWebsite Cardsfeature lets you embed external content into your ClickUp whiteboard. This includes websites, YouTube videos, Figma designs, and Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides.

TheDrawfeature lets you sketch freely on the Whiteboard canvas. This is very helpful for adding simple illustrations and annotations however, it’s not smooth and snappy. This issue may be resolved in the new ClickUp 3.0 interface.

You can use theShapesfeature to add up to 5 different types of shapes to your whiteboard. In addition, you can easily connect multiple shapes together by clicking on any of the surrounding plus icons. This feature comes in handy when creating flowcharts or visualizing processes.

By simply typing the forward slash key (/) in a text box, you get access to a wide range of text formatting options—from changing the color of your text to inserting dividers and buttons.

3. Texts to Tasks

it’s possible to easily convert text elements to tasks with the click of a button—all you need to do is select the text and click+ Taskfrom the popup toolbar.

4. Movement and Navigation

The mini toolbar in the top right corner of your canvas lets zoom in or out, fit to screen (view all canvas elements at a glance), and view your canvas in full-screen mode.

TheSelect (V)mode lets you select elements on your canvas. And if you want to pan to different sections of your canvas, you could either use the two-finger scroll on your mouse pad or switch toMove (M)mode.

5. Keyboard Shortcuts
