Dumbledore might be characterized as a comforting fatherly figure to Harry, but to many others, he’s a fearsome leader and warrior who’s never to be trifled with. One of my favorite parts of Dumbledore’s character is the fact that he shies away from political power, always refusing to be part of the Ministry, and Corrino’s disillusionment with the empire and his deep insecurities about his position are a strong foil to Dumbledore’s characterization.

Dumbledore is a complex character, and though, physically, Strong doesn’t look like the past actors who have portrayed him, I think this could be a good thing.There are a few avenues that Strong could go down in his take on Dumbledore’s character,and I would be interested in seeing all of them. He could use his past experience and put a more stern and foreboding spin on the role. Personally, I would be intrigued to see him go the opposite root and almost emulate the first Dumbledore actor, Richard Harris, who was a gentler figure.
Fans want to see a lot in theHarry Potterremake, but the most important part of the show will be ensuring the actors, writing, and setting aren’t carbon copies of the movies. My biggest concern with theHarry PotterTV show is that it won’t justify itself, and fans and critics will question why it was made in the first place. However, if the team continues down the path of tapping unexpected but undeniably skilled performers like Strong, this will give me a good feeling about the future of the series.
