Summary
Percy Jackson & The Olympiansexecutive producerBecky Riordan may have just teased an iconic book settingforPercy Jackson & The Olympiansseason 2. When season 1 premiered, I was so relieved that we finally hada faithful adaptation of the beloved fantasy booksof my childhood. Disney+‘sPercy Jackson & The Olympiansis arguably the best adaptation anyone can ask for. In fact, the show even improved some aspects of its book counterpart.
However, there was one disappointment -a particularly important location seemed to be missing. We saw glimpses of this place, but the show never gave us a full shot of its entirety. Adaptations are never perfect, and the Disney+ adaptation has already gone above and beyond to preserve the source material. The location is critical for several reasons, so seeing that the show could not include it was disheartening. Nevertheless, executive producer Becky Riordan just teased that the Big House might appear in the second season, making the prospect ofPercy Jackson & The Olympiansseason 2 much more exciting.

One Of The Most Iconic Settings From The Percy Jackson Books Is Missing From The Show
The Big House Does Not Appear In Percy Jackson & The Olympians Season 1
The Big House, one of the first locations introduced inThe Lightning Thief, does not appear inPercy Jackson & The Olympiansseason 1. Until now, we didn’t know why producers excluded the building, which is theadministrative building of Camp Half-Blood. It has several floors, including an infirmary, administrative offices, living quarters for Chiron and Mr. D, accessible bedrooms for wheelchair users, an attic, a basement, a large deck, and a rec room. The show provides glimpses of the deck, the infirmary, and the attic, but we do not see the Big House in all its glory.
I Hope Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson Season 2 Tease Means We’ll See The Big House Soon
Executive Producer Becky Riordan Has Suggested The Big House Might Appear In Season 2
A short while after production began filmingPercy Jackson & The Olympiansseason 2, executive producer BeckyRiordan addressed the issue of the missing Big Housewhile teasing a possible first glimpse of the location in its entirety. Becky Riordan responded to a tweet explaining that there werelogistical problems with portraying the Big House on set. Riordan also teased that the opening scene ofPercy Jackson & The Olympiansseason 2 would finally include the Big House’s long-awaited appearance.
We do not know how the show will portray such a beautiful and iconic location, especially given that they had issues doing so in the first season.Production might build a makeshift Big House, utilize a house already built, or spend a huge portion of the budget to create and perfect a Big House from scratch. Regardless, based on Becky Riordan’s suggestive response, it looks like a variation of the Big House will appear inPercy Jackson & The Olympiansseason 2.

Why The Big House Is Such An Important Location In The Percy Jackson Books
The Big House Is The Home Of Many Important Figures, Including The Oracle
The Big House is the heart of Camp Half-Bloodfor several reasons. It holds administrative offices, including Mr. D’s and Chiron’s workspaces. They also live in the Big House - and in the book, so does the security guard, Argus. The Big House hosts the infirmary, and since Demigods often injure themselves, it is critical to have one. Percy Jackson wakes up in the infirmary on his first full day at Camp Half-Blood. The basement is not an important aspect of the Big House, but it does become a crucial location for one of the campers inThe Battle of the Labyrinth.
The Big House is well-grounded in the novel, whereas we must fill in the bits and pieces missing ourselves for the show.

There is also the rec room, where Chiron hosts camp-wide meetings, and a large deck, where Mr. D and Chiron play cards. However, the attic is the most important part; it is where the Oracle resides. The show places the Oracle in a space that looks like an attic, but it is not confirmed since we have not seen the full Big House. The book introduces the location before Percy enters the attic to receive his quest. The Big House is well-grounded in the novel, whereas we must fill in the bits and pieces missing ourselves for the show.

Although getting to see the Big House inPercy Jackson & The Olympianswould be exciting,we might never see the full location because of the logistical issues with the set. Nevertheless, production did their best under the circumstances. It would be highly satisfying ifPercy Jackson & The Olympiansseason 2 showed us just one shot of the Big House, and I hope Becky Riordan’s teaser was an indication that they will. Regardless, the show is an excellent adaptation, and withTyson’s castingand major filming updates, I am already excited for the second season.
