Gladiator 2star Joseph Quinn has teased the brotherly bond between twin emperors Geta (Quinn) and Caracalla (Fred Hechinger), indicating how their relationship is presented. Thecast ofGladiator 2consists of many figures with power throughout Roman history, with Geta and Caracalla in particular serving as Co-Emperors, based on the real figures that ruled during the 200s. The pair have been described as tyrannical rulers of the Roman Empire, their behavior throughout the movie acting as a core part of the wider conflict that will unfold throughout the story.
Speaking withEntertainment Weekly, Quinn teased how hisGeta will serve in an “older brother” role, contrasting with Hechinger’s Caracalla inGladiator 2. The actor explained how, due to his brother’s cognitive issues, he’ll be forced to take the lead in a dangerous political situation for both of them. He teased how this will result in Geta having to naviage politics for both of them, leading to major, dangerous scenarios they’ll have to contend with. Check out what Quinn had to say below:

I think that Geta certainly plays the role of an older brother. And I think as it’s addressed in the film, Caracalla is having some cognitive erosion occurring in one of his lobes in the brain. And that is affecting his ability to be cognizant and conduct himself in a way that’s becoming as a young emperor. And there are many snakes in the grass for both of them, and they are very young, and authority without integrity, as we see in politics today, is a very dangerous recipe.
What Quinn’s Statement Says About Geta & Caracalla In Gladiator 2
The Brothers Will Have Many Difficulties To Contend With
The mainstory ofGladiator 2follows an older Lucius Verus (Paul Mescal) as he becomes a Gladiator, plotting to overthrow the twin emperors in the process. At the same time, other forces are at work throughout Rome, including Denzel Washington’s Macrinus, a former slave who acts as the protagonist’s mentor, and Pedro Pascal’s Marcus Acacius, a general growing disillusioned by war. However, Geta and Caracalla are at the nexus of the tale, their rule over the empire influencing the major events that will transpire throughout the movie.
Every Real Historical Figure In Gladiator 2
Ridley Scott’s Gladiator movies, including Gladiator II, include several characters that are based on real historical figures from the Roman Empire.
Quinn’s statement indicates the duo won’t be on equal footing, though, withGeta doing much of the work to keep their rule afloat in the middle of political turmoil. Because of how central his actions will be to the story, Caracalla’s presence might prove a core threat to their stability, his worsening condition potentially making his brother more desperate in the process. Even so, finding that right balance will be important for his survival while enemies come for him on all sides, especially once theRidley Scott historical epicreaches its climax.
