The Boys Season 4 Finale Just Set Up A Wild Season 5
What Episode 8 Means For The Show’s Final Outing
Kripke has now been clear for a while thatThe Boysseason 5has always been his end point for the series. The season 4 finale certainly reinforces this, as it sets up the conclusion to some key character arcs. Butcher’s goal has always been to kill Homelander, but a central dramatic question in the show is how far he’s willing to go to achieve this and whether he’s willing to sacrifice his humanity.Butcher’s killing of Neuman paints a dark future for the characterand for the future of Supe-kind.
Butcher is now armed with a virus that can kill Homelander, but it will wipe out all other Supes in the process.
Butcher’s dark turn, however, isn’t unmotivated, as Ryan (Cameron Crovetti) seemingly kills (or seriously injures) Grace Mallory (Laila Robins) as he elects to return to Vought and Homelander.Ryan, then, is poised to become a major, Homelander-sized threat, and his decision seemingly solidified Butcher’s willingness to commit Supe genocide. With Hughie (Jack Quaid), M.M. (Laz Alonso), and Kimiko having all been captured, and Frenchie having been brainwashed, Starlight (Erin Moriarty) is seemingly the last hope to avoid a truly dark ending.
The Boys Season 4 Cast & Character Guide: Every New & Returning Character
From the supes to those trying to take them down, The Boys season 4 cast brings back the show’s popular characters as well as new faces.
The comparison betweenThe Boys' season 4 finale andAvengers: Infinity Waris certainly an apt one, as the show’s penultimate season concludes with a major loss for the protagonists. There are hints, however, that suggestStarlight won’t be working alone in season 5, as A-Train (Jessie T. Usher) has essentially turned against Homelander, Ashley (Colby Minifie) injected herself with V to avoid becoming a victim of the Vought purge, and Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott) remains alive. The Boys' exceptional season 4 finale certainly means the wait for season 5 will feel like a long one.
