It’s not surprising, not for a show that kills off Kyle Chandler in the middle of episode one. It’s like, this s–t happens in Kingstown, nobody’s safe. And if you think something bad’s going to happen, what actually happens is probably going to be worse. That’s what happens in Kingstown. Yeah, look at Rhonda’s character. She’s just so happy. She’s got her salon going, everything’s happened. You just knew there’s too many smiles on somebody’s face, it’s like the drive-by is coming soon. Oh my gosh.

Rhonda’s Mayor Of Kingstown Season 3 Death Might Be The Show’s Most Tragic Yet

Mayor of Kingstownindeed set a tone with the season 1 death ofMitch McLusky, a sudden demise that foreshadowed the tragedy to come. The McLusky clan, not unexpectedly, often finds itself at the center of such tragic circumstances. But while it may be understandable for an operator like Mike, or a cop like Kyle, to face violence, Mariam should have been relatively safe from harm, despite her job as a prison teacher, but Kingstown is indeed an exceedingly dangerous place, as Handley underlines.

For Mariam to meet a violent end was tragic enough, butMayor of Kingstownseason 3 raised the stakes even more in episode 6, whenBunny’s cousin Rhondawas killed in an attack by Konstantin amid the frightening Russian newcomer’s escalating, Aryan Brotherhood-aided war with the Crips. Rhonda, a beauty salon owner who was completely out of the game, should have been off-limits, but Konstantin seemingly has no regard for any unwritten rules of the Kingstown streets, as he ruthlessly pursues his criminal interests.

Nona Parker Johnson’s Rhonda was introduced inMayor of Kingstownseason 2

Konstantin’s cold-bloodedness was established with his murder of Tatiana, making him the most dangerous man in Kingstown, a fact Bunny and Rhonda learned in the most tragic way possible. The only certainty onMayor of Kingstownis that violence is coming, and as Handley emphasizes in his remarks, that violence could be visited on any character at any time, regardless of their guilt or innocence.
