Summary

Mike spent the entirety ofMayor of Kingstownseason 3, episode 9 scheming to solve Kingstown’s gang problem and push Callahan and Konstantin away, but how he conducted his mayor business also showed how much his approach changed.Mayor of Kingstownseason 2 already forced Mike to deal heavily with the gangs and their leaders, trying to broker a peace deal that would be respected in prison as well as outside, benefitting the gangs and Kingstown’s general public. However, new arrivals andMayor of Kingstownseason 3’s surprise partnershipbetween Callahan and Konstantin made things exponentially more difficult in Kingstown.

Callahan suffering an attack against his gang and even fighting for his life guaranteed he would have had much to ask Mike as retribution. Similarly, Mike’s accusations against Bunny destroyed their bond to the point that Bunny refused to be easy to reach, and convincing him to agree to his plan needed some sweet-talking on Mike’s part. In addition, Konstantin didn’t have any reason to trust Mike, and yet, Mike promised him military-grade weapons if he moved against Bunny. All of Mike’s schemes inMayor of Kingstownseason 3 had something in common that his season 2 plans did not.

Mike Not Trusting Bunny Lets Him Put Peace In Kingstown Truly First

Delivering Bunny To Konstantin Can Weaken Bunny’s Expansion Plan

Despite making deals with all the gangs,Mike heavily favored Bunny inMayor of Kingstownseason 2, letting him out of prison firstonce he set up Raphael as the Crips’ leader in prison while the rest of the gang leaders remained in jail or were killed there. Mike undoubtedly set the scales in Bunny’s favor, repeatedly hitting AB and even covering for Bunny after the hit he ordered on Robert, not letting KPD know Bunny was behind it. However, that wasn’t the case inMayor of Kingstownseason 3, when Mike’s loyalty to Bunny found its limit.

Despite not pursuing Bunny as he did Konstantin and Callahan, Mike still aimed to cut back Bunny’s operation.By promising Bunny’s military weapon operation to Konstantin, Mike guaranteed Bunny’s survival but the destruction of his ambitious new plan, taking away from Bunny the possibility of tilting the scales in his favor.Mike’s scheme to rid Kingstown of Konstantin and Callahanwhile also cutting back Bunny’s new operationthus did solely the interests of Kingstown, keeping Bunny alive unlike the other gang members, but not giving him an advantage, like Mike would have done inMayor of Kingstownseason 2.

Mike’s Ambitious Plan Also Risks Exploding In His Face

How The Raphael Plot Ended Already Derailed The Plan’s Phase 1

Mike’s ambitious plot to have the gangs move against each other seemed to work the moment Bunny and Konstantin agreed to let him help, butMayor of Kingstownseason 3’s most dangerous playerclearly didn’t believe him.Callahan killing the guard and hiding in the hospital effectively derailed the first phase of Mike’s plan that would have seen Raphael kill Callahan. Even if the police eventually found Callahan, he was still alive and not killed off by Raphael, an event that was necessary for Mike to keep his word to Bunny.

Mike’s plan may yet explode in his face, and if Callahan understood Mike played him, he might want revenge. This could not only cause an open war in the streets of Kingstown and in the prison but also a direct attack against Mike and his loved ones, as Callahan must have realized Mike gave his blessing to Raphael’s attempt to kill him. This complicates Mike’s multi-phase plan, promising an intenseMayor of Kingstownseason 3 finale when all gang leaders come to clash.
