According to a post on X byWSJ_manga,My Hero Academiawill be receiving a new spin-off by Yoco Akiyama in issue #35 of Shonen Jump which will be released next week on Monday, 29 July. The spin-off is titledConnect to the Dayand will be 16 pages long.

According to an article byComic Natalie, theConnect to the Dayspin-off serves to set up the upcoming filmYou’re Nextwhich is releasing in Japan on August 2 and covers the events leading up to the movie. The spin-off featuresDeku and his friends capturing villains who have escaped from prison.
The cover art for the spin-off features the main trio of Deku, Bakugo, and Shoto along with All Might. The cover also includes two new characters fromYou’re Nextwho have been teased in the trailers, specifically, a woman named Anna Scervino and her butler Giulio Gandini both of whom appear on either side of All Might.

The upcoming spin-off will be created by Horikoshi’s assistant Yoco Akiyama, who has also been in charge of many of the franchise’s previous spin-offs likeEndeavor’s MissionandDeku & Bakugo: Rising. It is difficult to guess what the spin-off’s story will be about judging from the title alone, but needless to say, the spin-off is in safe hands.

That said, hopefully, this short spin-off will not beMy Hero Academia’s last. With less than two chapters to go before the series ends,My Hero Academiastill has plenty of loose threadsto address outside of the main cast. Not to mention, Kohei Horikoshi has created such a vibrant world over the last few years that makes the series ripe for a spin-off series.
Though Deku and Class 1-A have reached a resolution, there are still plenty of interesting characters—heroes and villains alike—whose stories are waiting to be told and, hopefully, Horikoshi will be just as unwilling to let the series go as fans are. Nonetheless, it will be interesting to see whatMy Hero Academia’s upcoming spin-off has in store.
