The newest installment in theRebel Moonfranchise has been revealed. The multimedia science fiction franchise, created by Zack Snyder, already includes a pair of blockbuster Netflix movies and a comic book limited series. It is set in a universe controlled by the Motherworld and their armed force known as The Imperium. The burgeoningRebel Moonfranchisefeatures an array of characters played by an ensemble cast that includes Sofia Boutella, Djimon Hounsou, Ed Skrein, Michiel Huisman, Doona Bae, Ray Fisher, and Charlie Hunnam.

The post reveals thatthe first episode of the six-part podcastThe Seneschalwill premiere on July 29, telling “the story of the first Jimmy,” referencing the robotic knight voiced by Anthony Hopkins. The video accompanying the announcement features behind-the-scenes interviews teasing the project, which is set 500 years before the events of the movies, and announces the main cast, which includes Ella Purnell as Raina, Naveen Andrews as Grigory, Alfred Enoch as Adwin, Peter Serafinowicz as Bartholomew, and Jason Isaacs as King Ulmer.

The Podcast Has Assembled An Intriguing Group Of Voice Actors
As this announcement reveals, the cast ofThe Seneschalrivals theRebel Mooncastin terms of being packed with recognizable stars. Although there seem to be fewer characters than the movies, which are inspired by the Japanese ensemble action movieSeven Samurai,every single one of them is played by a notable star. This includes two separate actors who played major recurring roles in theHarry Pottermovies, namely Alfred Enoch (Dean Thomas) and Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy).
The majority of the other stars have held similarly iconic roles. This includes Naveen Andrews, who playedSayid Jarrah as part of the main cast on all six seasons of the hit showLostbefore going on to hold major roles in such projects asSense8,The Cleaning Lady, andOnce Upon a Time in Wonderland. Peter Serafinowicz has also held roles in multiple well-known franchises, including voicing Darth Maul inStar Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menaceand playing supporting characters inGuardians of the GalaxyandJohn Wick: Chapter 2.

While Ella Purnell is a younger actor who has had less time to establish herself, she is a major rising star thanks to her lead role in the new Prime Video showFallout. She has also held major roles inStar Trek: ProdigyandYellowjackets, as well as voicing on Netflix’sArcaneand having previously worked with Snyder onArmy of the Dead. With such a robust cast, the podcast could provide a solid installment to ease the wait for theupcomingRebel Moon3, which was announced by Snyder, though it has not yet been confirmed by Netflix.

Rebel Moon is a multi-media franchise created by Zack Snyder that begins with the first film, Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire, released in 2023. The franchise follows a woman named Kora, who once worked for an authoritarian regime that now dominates the universe. To atone for the crimes she was complicit in, Kora heads across the galaxy to gather a team to fight back and free their worlds.
