We’ve seen it all with Johnny and Daniel before, but this is what’s fun this season is that Johnny is going all in to working with these guys. It was always sort of like a partnership of convenience, but early in the season, Johnny ends up recognizing that he doesn’t want to continue John Creese’s legacy. He wants a more positive approach to karate and to distance himself from this father figure who he hates so much. He decides to lean into Miyagi-Do and working with Daniel and Chozen, who have made him a better sensei and have helped the students. Daniel welcomes this and is excited about this, that they’re all going to be on the same page for once, while allowing Johnny to bring some of his techniques and flourishes and his teachings in there. It’s the two of them bringing what they bring to the table but learning from each other is the intent there.

But is Johnny capable of being Miyagi-Do? Or will he revert back to his natural instincts, which are either good or bad depending on your perspective? And how will Daniel handle that? Early on, you’ll see there’s a change on the Miyagi-Do patch, there’s a little eagle there — so he’s supposedly accepting part of Johnny’s philosophies within Miyagi-Do. Is Daniel going to be willing to make adjustments to his vision of Miyagi-Do as well? There’s conflict between the two of them. Can they truly be coexist in the same dojo and be under the exact same banner?

What Johnny & Daniel’s Conflict Means For Cobra Kai Season 6

Peace Won’t Return To The Valley For Long

Cobra Kaiseason 6is coming off the heels of a major conflict in season 5, wherein Daniel and Johnny defeated billionaire Terry Silver, doing away with the titular organization of the show in the process. However, the new dojo the pair have set up together with Chozen offers a fresh start for them if they’re able to work together. With conflict inevitable, though,it seems the final season is going to be focused on the pair finding a way to work together with their different techniqueswhile maintaining the spirit of what makes karate important to them.

Kreese’s return in season 6 will also be a major source of antagonism this season, as he’s now out of prison and back to practicing karate. Whilethe main duo’s conflict is likely to be a key focus for the start of the season, their former enemy’s reemergence might be enough to help them set aside their differences. Since there are still 15 episodes left in the show, there’s plenty of time for it to explore the ins and outs of these ideas, aided by tight storytelling that wraps everything up in the end.

It’s also possible the pair’s decisions in the final season will hint at what to expect from thenextKarate Kidmovie, which will see Ralph Macchio reprise his role as Daniel again. While the two pieces of media aren’t expected to be directly connectionCobra Kaicould establish elements that take the franchise into a larger future. But, with tensions between him and Johnny likely to rise higher as season 6 goes on, it remains to be seen just how the story will evolve going forward.
