With San Diego Comic-Con 2024 fast approaching, here is a breakdown of every panel and attraction being held in Hall H across all 4 days of the event.

Why Tyson Is Important To Percy Jackson And The Olympians

He Changes Percy’s World And Makes The Universe More Expansive

As one of the most importantPercy Jacksoncharactersto be introduced after the events of the first season and its adaptation of the first book,The Lightning Thief, Tyson’s introduction is integral to the future of the mythological universe. As a sibling that Percy never knew he had, Tyson challenges Percy’s perspective on himself, his family, and his growing understanding of the modern mythological world he inhabits.Tyson becomes someone Percy cares deeply aboutand is determined to protect just as much as his mother, Annabeth Chase, and Grover Underwood.

While Tyson’s most prominent role is inThe Sea of Monsters, he also appears in every book within themainPercy Jacksonseries. If the Disney+ series stays true to this,Tyson will not only be important in season 2, but will continue to appear in all upcoming seasons, making Tyson’sPercy Jacksondebut even more exciting. He is an important character in the books, but an advantage of having a season to adapt every installment means he may be able to have further depth beyond the source material.

There are five books in the mainPercy Jacksonseries.

Having a cyclops character not only appear, but be a consistent presence throughout season 2, willfurther expand the fantastical and mythological elements established in season 1. While season 1 featured many gods and monsters, most of these characters looked like regular humans most of the time. Tyson’s singular eye will be a consistent reminder that he is not human, and it will be intriguing to see how this is visually depicted inPercy Jackson and the Olympiansseason 2.
