The latest event forPokémon GOis Deep Depths, a limited-time affair that features one brand-new Pokémon in the game and several existing ones that appear more frequently. Water and Dark-type Pokémon are in the spotlight for this event, with much higher Shiny chances as the event lasts. Several new Research Tasks are also a part of Deep Depths, leading to various rewards you can earn.

The Deep Depths eventlasts from March 19th until March 24th, 2025. Like the earlierFestival of Colors event inPokémon GO, Deep Depthsstarts at 10:00 AM on Wednesday the 19th and ends at 8:00 PM on Monday the 24th. The five days this event lasts isn’t too long, so verify to participate as often as you may before it ends.

Catch A Never-Before-Seen Fox In The Game

Two new Pokémon make their debut in the Deep Depths eventfrom the Galar region seen in the games of Generation 8. These Pokémon include:

Nickit, the Fox Pokémon, is a Dark-type creature that appears throughout Deep Depths with a highShiny chance inPokémon GO.Once you catch a Nickit, you may keep capturing it to collect Candies to help it evolve into Thievul.

You can also find Nickit Candies by hatching the new Pokémon from 7km Eggs or transferring a Nickit or Thievul at any time. Due to the Deep Depths event bonus, Eggs hatch at half the distance, making it easier to hatch Nickit.

While you won’t find any Thievul in the wild, the Nickit Pokémon you can find are easy enough to catch to earn evolution Candy. Theevolution process requires 50 Nickit Candies, which shouldn’t be too hard to collect with the Fox Pokémon’s high spawn rate during the event.

Encounter Water And Dark-Type Pocket Monsters

Certain Water and Dark-type Pokémon are featured in Special Encounters throughout the Deep Depths event, creating a unique theme. Alongside Nickit, the most featured Pokémon already in the game is Clauncher, a Water-type who appears with much higher Shiny odds during Deep Depths. Whether you catch a Clauncher in the wild or hatch it from an Egg, the odds of it being Shiny are very high during this event.

Pokemon Go: How To Find (& Catch) Clauncher

Clauncher is one of the newest Pokemon to join the roster in Pokemon Go. This guide will show players how they can find and capture this Pokemon.

There areno new Max Battles or Raids directly tied to Deep Depths, only an abundance of rarer Pokémon you may not encounter often. Despite there being noraid bosses inPokémon GOin Deep Depths, here are all the rare Pokémon you can find more frequently while the event continues:

Pokémon GO Battle League ranks next to keyart featuring Swampert, Lugia, Ho-Oh, and Skarmory

Each of these Pokémon can be encountered as Shiny variants, but Clauncher is the only one with increased odds for this event. In addition to the more frequent wild encounters of rare Pokémon, some Pokémon have a higher chance of hatching from 7km Eggs. The following Pokémon are the ones featured in these specific Egg types:

As long as you have Incubator slots open, you should be able to get a few of these Pokémon to hatch quickly from 7km Eggs. During the event, there are some opportunities to even earn extra Incubators, but only through specific Research.

Pokémon GO Research Rewards from Deep Depths event

All Timed & Field Research Tasks

Meet Different Goals To Earn Rewards

Throughout Deep Depths, you cancomplete Field Research tasks to earn rewards, which range from basic currency to unique Pokémon Candy or event-themed encounters. One of the easiest ways to guarantee the capture of Deep Depth’s featured Pokémon is to pursue Research whenever you can. Those familiar with the recentCatch Mastery event inPokémon GOmay already have a good idea about what Research will look like.

You can obtain Field Research tasks by spinning Poké Stops throughout the course of the Deep Depths event. Collecting and completing events will help you earn more rewards before the event ends.

The tasks tied to Field Research vary, from using specific items to battling trainers with your strongest Pokémon.Field Research is divided into two categories - Free Timed Research and Paid Time Research. While Free Timed Research can be accessed by simplylogging intoPokémon GOduring the event, Paid Research needs to be purchased at the in-game shop.

It costs $2.00 (USD) to buy Paid Time Researchtasks for additional rewards. While you get plenty of goals to complete with regular Free Research for basic rewards, Paid Research offers items with higher value for completing Research objectives.

Pokémon GO: Best Teams For Great League, Ultra League, and Master League: Dual Destiny

Pokémon GO’s Dual Destiny PvP Battle Leagues offer the game’s toughest battles, so you must assemble the best teams possible to win in each rank.

Another subset of Field Research you can complete is tied directly to encountering and catching event-themed Pokémon.Collection Challenges ask you to capture and evolve Pokémon from the Deep Depths eventfor even more rewards. I’ve found that the Free and Paid Research tasks for an event usually help you work toward Completion Challenges at the same time.

Gain Different Rewards From Specific Research

Therewards from the Deep Depths event revolve around what Research you completewhile it lasts. For example, those who purchased the Paid Research will gain access to a new selection of rewards on top of the ones already offered from Free Research. The table below outlines which rewards come from each type of Research, including Collection Challenges:

Rewards

Free Timed Research

1x Mysterious Component, 10x Kubfu Candy, Event-themed Pokémon encounters, x2 Stardust multiplier for catching Pokémon (after all other Research tasks are complete)

2x Super Incubators, 1x Star Piece, Encounters with Nickit & Clauncher event Pokémon

The best reward from all types of Research is the increased encounters you get with the event-themed Pokémon. The more you encounter the new and featured Pokémon seen in the Deep Depths event forPokémon GO, the more chances you’ll have to catch Shiny variants and evolve some of the rarer pocket monsters in the game.
