More details are coming out about the nextPokémon Trading Card Gamespecial set, which will focus on Pokémon from the Unova region. Last year, leaks emerged via trademark filings thatPokémon TCGwould release a card set in Japanfocused on Pokémon fromPokémon BlackandWhite. These cards would purportedly be released as a special set internationally, with a similar release cadence and product lineup to Prismatic Evolutions or Scarlet & Violet - 151. Now, additional details have surfaced as to how the set will be released.
According toPokeBeach, the English release of the new set (which currently has an unknown name) will feature two Elite Trainer Boxes —one with Reshiram on the product packaging and one with Zekrom. Two Binder Collections, also featuring either Reshiram or Zekrom, will allegedly be released, as well as a Poster Collection and a series of eight Mini Tins. This will reportedly be followed by the release of two Tech Sticker Collections and two Illustration Rare Boxes in early August, with two separate Booster Bundles released in late August.

Could Pokémon TCG’s Next Special Set Be Split Into Two Parts?
Releases Indicate Multiple Sets Similar To A Japanese Release
The emphasis on two separate sets of products for thePokémon BlackandWhitespecial set has led to some speculation thatthe set might actually be released as two sets internationally.Typically, The Pokémon Company combines Japanese sets, which are smaller and more focused, into larger international releases. However, the release of two booster bundles seems to indicate that we could actually get a “Pokémon Black” set and a “Pokémon White” set released in the U.S. and internationally.
10 Pokémon Cards Worth At Least $10,000
Pokémon cards can be highly collectible items, with many older, classic cards now valued at $10,000 or more when still in mint condition.
This would be a huge departure for The Pokémon Company. Evenmost special sets (such as this year’s Prismatic Evolutions) have a very different lineup of cards than what is released in Japan, the result of Japan having cards bundled in products such as starter decks. While we still don’t know any official details about the set, PokeBeach typically gets its information from retailer listings, so we can be fairly confident in the accuracy of the site’s reporting.

Our Take: The Possibility Of Two Special Sets Is Daunting
Pokemon TCG Already Has A Problem Getting Cards To Fans
If The Pokémon Company has decided to release two sets of cards instead of one, it would be very daunting given the state of the game. Withscalpers circling and snatching up any productavailable, releasing not one but two special sets simultaneously seems like a recipe for disaster.Special sets, by their nature, have smaller circulation than normal set releases, which means that they’re easy targets for scalpers. It’s curious to see how thePokémon TCGteam will handle this new card set release, especially givenits recent commitment to releasing more productsto satisfy demand.
