The Boysseason 5 adds a new actor to its cast, with aStranger Thingsstar joining as a new Supe. Created by Eric Kripke, Prime Video’s hit superhero parody show returned for season 4 earlier this year, continuing Billy Butcher’s (Karl Urban) quest for vengeance against Homelander (Antony Starr) and Vought. The Boysseason 5is now confirmed to bring the show to an end, with a roster of both new and old Supes assembling for the final episodes as Homelander’s power grows.
Varietynow reports that actorMason Dye has been cast inThe Boysseason 5 as Bombsight. Though details regarding the character haven’t yet been released, Bombsight was mentioned in season 4 as a Supe who appeared in “The Curse of Fu Manchu,” a 1950s Vought superhero movie. As for where audiences will have seen Dye previously, the actor recently appeared inStranger Thingsseason 4 as Jason Carver, a Hawkins High basketball star and supporting antagonist, but he’s also had roles inFlowers in the Attic(2014) andTruth or Dare(2017).

Varietyalso mentions in the report thatBombsight could potentially appear in the announcedThe Boysprequel spinoff,Vought Rising, though Prime Video would not confirm this. The spinoff is set to star Jensen Ackles' Soldier Boy and Aya Cash’s Stormfront in a story that takes places in the 1950s.
Vought Risingwas announcedat San Diego Comic-Con this year, with Paul Grellong confirmed to serve as showrunner. Kripke will serve as an executive producer on the show.

What Dye’s Casting Means For Stranger Things Season 5
How Is Bombsight Alive?
Dye joins actor Daveed Diggs as a newcomer toThe Boys' castfor season 5, though no details have yet been revealed regarding who Diggs will be playing. Very little is known about Bombsight as a character beyond the main time period in which he was active. It’s also not clear yet whether Bombsight’s role in season 5 will be through flashbacks or if he will be reawakened in the modern era. Bombsight’s history with Vought, however, could suggest that, if he does appear in the present day storyline, he could end up serving as an antagonist.
10 The Boys Mysteries That Can Be Solved By Amazon’s Vought Rising Prequel
Vought Rising will explore the early days of Vought, Stormfront, and Soldier Boy, meaning that the show can answer these 10 The Boys questions.
If Bombsight does appear during the modern storyline, it certainly wouldn’t be without precedent. Soldier Boy, after all, was active during the 1950s but looks like he hasn’t aged a day in the 2020s storyline. Soldier Boy’s powers essentially stop him from aging, and it’s possible that Bombsight has similar abilities. It’s also possible, however, that Bombsight has been cryogenically frozen since the ’50s, just as Soldier Boy is at theend ofThe Boysseason 4.

Our Take On Bombsight’s Introduction In The Boys Season 5
Dye Could Make Bombsight A Great Villain
One of the most fun aspects of each new season ofThe Boysis the introduction of new Supes. These new Supes often have truly unique powers, weaknesses, and vices, such as Sister Sage (Susan Heyward), who can essentially only turn her genius brain off by giving herself a lobotomy. In addition to featuring what sounds like an explosive superpower,Bombsight is likely to be similarly complex in terms of his personality traits and worldview.
Dye was memorable inStranger Thingsas Jason, a character that became easy to hate as new episodes of season 4 were released. If Bombsight ends up being a villainous character,Dye certainly has a proven ability to be menacing. With both the Dye and Diggs' castings having been announced recently, it’s possible that more casting announcements regardingThe Boysseason 5 are on the way.
