Time’s running out on Prime Early Access’s insane $380 Pixel 6 deal
Google’sPixel 7has undoubtedly taken over the tech news zeitgeist for the last week, but you shouldn’t forget that the Pixel 6 was a big step forward andremains a powerful smartphonethat will perform well for years. DuringAmazon’s Prime Early Access Sale, the Pixel 6 is now cheaper than ever, with a genuinely budget-friendly cost of just $380. And if our Pixel 7 review left you feeling underwhelmed by the new model, save 37% and grab the Pixel 6 before it’s gone.
The 2021 Pixel 6 has only a smidge less processing power than its successor, with an eight-core in-house Google Tensor SoC and the same 8 GB of RAM. For that matter, the 6’s display is even a touch bigger than the 7’s (though the 7 can get a little brighter in full sun). As is usually the case with Google phones, the Android 13 implementation is second to none in terms of performance and a streamlined interface. So if it’s time to upgrade your two-year-old or older smartphone, it’s hard to argue against buying a Google Pixel 6.

This sale is Prime Exclusive, so you’ll need to be an Amazon Prime subscriber, but given Prime was in the name of the event, that shouldn’t be a surprise. As we await the Pixel 7’s retail release tomorrow and look back on our year with the Pixel 6, it’s hard to deny the appeal it has once those initial Tensor-related bugs were squashed. Sure, the cell reception isn’t as strong as Samsung’s Galaxy phones because it doesn’t use a Qualcomm modem, but from our testing so far, that doesn’t seem completely fixed on the Pixel 7, either. In addition, most new features, such as Photo Unblur and Night Sight improvements, are confirmed to be coming to Pixel 6.

If you do take advantage of this clearance-level Pixel 6 deal, just be sure you graba great Pixel 6 caseto go with it. Our favorite Pixel 6 case the Caseology Parallax is on sale tonight, and having used that red-black Parallax on my own Pixel 6 for the last year, I can tell you it’s held up fabulously and worked well with my PopSockets. (I have an RSI in my pinkies so PopSockets help me hold my phone up without significant pain, and textured cases can sometimes interfere with them.)

While the Pixel 6 is the best Pixel sale of the day — except for maybe thePixel Buds Pro at $152— it’s not the only Pixel phone on sale. The Pixel 6 Pro is down to $640, just a few dollars less than the sale this phone got on Prime Day and has seen several times in the three months since then. Given that we’renot completely impressedwith the Pixel 7 Pro, the 6 Pro deal could be worth it if you need a big screen but can’t drop $900 on a phone right now. If you do,a good Pixel 6 Pro caseis even more crucial for the Pro as the rounded sides and curved screen can make it harder to hold onto.

The new-ishGoogle Pixel 6ais also on sale tonight for its best price yet — outside the trade-in deal the Google Store had during its preorder window in July — but at $329, the $380 Pixel 6 is still the better value as you’re getting newer cameras and wireless charging, something I missed dearly during my time on the Pixel 6a.
