10 Best Connections Tips, Tricks, & Strategies

Four categories with four words each sounds simple, but the daily challenge of the Connections game can prove difficult without a few tips to help.

Today’s Connections Category Hints

AUGUST 4 #419

If you just need a few tips and tricks, you should check out these hints before heading into the spoiler section:

From there, if you still need some hints for today, especially considering the confusing animal words spread in there, you can check out the category names in the box below:

Gaming in Connections Categories August 4

SPORT

TIGER

A few nicknames seem to go with kids from older people, mostly dads, and these are a lot of them.“Kiddo” can easily be used in the exact same tone as any of these names, although CHAMP and SPORT are the most common that I have heard. BUDDY: I strictly reserve for my cat, particularly when he is doing something less smart than usual. TIGER is the potentially wild card here, as there are a lot of animal-related words, but it does belong here.

GAME

WILLING

If you are DOWN or WILLING for something, you are often AMENABLE toward it. These words, including GAME,all have an aspect of being ready to do something. I am always down to watchLord of the Rings, for instance. This category is fairly straightforward today, with very few other words that could be used instead of these words. This category is without animal-related words, so it is likely one of the easiest in today’s puzzle.

LLAMA

OOZE

This was the last category I solved today, and I thought it was interesting thatthis spelling-related category was not the purple one, as it usually is. However, I was still able to solve the puzzle by guessing the purple category before this one. It was not until after I finished the puzzle that I recognized that there were a lot of double-letter words. If you noticed that, props to you, and you will likely have gotten this one, asno other word in the puzzle has that double letter at the beginning.

DEEP

DRINK

The final category also involved nicknames, but theseones are for a thing or place rather than a person. The sea is a mysterious place, and that is recognizable in the nicknames chosen for this one. OOZE is probably the biggest potential red herring, as it sounds like something someone would have called the sea at one point, but instead, you need to think about very BLUE, BRINY water to solve this category today.
