Fits Like A Glove

I have a few things I am looking for in a power bank that I plan on taking with me everywhere I go in my everyday carry backpack. First, it needs to be durable. I don’t know where to pull that power bank out, so if I have something too fragile, I’ll be nervous pulling it out on the go. Second, taking up space in my bag must be useful. I carry much gear while keeping it as minimal as possible.

That said, I was genuinely thrilled when I opened this 100W 20000mAh Power Bank from Ugreen. It’s the perfect balance between hefty and durable while staying compact and not being an awkward size to try and be “the best” at a metric that doesn’t matter in most use cases. This power bank fits perfectly in my backpack in a zipped pocket and hides away until I need it. It’s easy to grab and use when I do, charges my devices quickly and reliably, and puts me at peace. This power bank from Ugreen is the only one I carry these days instead of two like I used to.

Simple Design, Powerful Features

Ugreen kept these power banks simple, which I appreciate. That leans a bit into why I rely on them so confidently. I have had power banks that have excellent features added in, like wireless charging, Apple Watch chargers, and such, but those are rarely large enough to charge my 13" M2 MacBook Pro and 11" iPad Pro. And, if I am on the go, I’d rather have my Apple Watch die before I let my MacBook or even my iPad go.

So, having a large capacity, with no frills, just a solid power bank, has been excellent. I love the port offering, giving me two USB-C ports, one with an output of 100W, the other with an output of 30W, and then a USB-A port with a max output of 22.5W. Ugreen also included a button that I can press to get a real-time capacity check to see if I need to recharge my device.

So Fast I Thought I Broke It

I have used many power banks; I am on my laptop and iPad, along with whatever other devices I am testing at the time, all day long. I have a pretty great sense of how long a battery capacity will last me and how long it takes to recharge. I remember the first time I used this power bank, I assumed that it was damaged because while I was recharging, I was in the zone working hard, and then I looked over and saw my battery bank was already down to 2%. I thought, well dang, it was too good to be true. It’s already nearly dead after what felt like minutes. Surprisingly, my MacBook Pro had already finished recharging, and my iPad Pro was also fully charged. Granted, neither were at zero, but they were around 40% if I remember correctly.

Another testament to how impressive this power bank is revolves around its recharge time. Now, of course, this relies greatly on how I choose to recharge the power bank, but even with the same way I would charge others, the Ugreen power banks seem to charge noticeably faster than previous power banks I have used.

Lastly, this power bank’s output allows it to output at the appropriate wattage for even the power-hungry brand-new M3 Max MacBook Pro, let alone for prosumer laptops with a much lower wattage. Of course, when combining multiple items to charge, the wattage must be shared. However, I have yet to see that as a problem.
