Specifications

A Metal and Plastic Brick on Your Desk

The Revodok Max 313 is a dark gray and black metal and plastic brick that sits on your desk. It’s marginally larger than an iPhone 15 Pro Max with a thick case and about as thick as my mechanical keyboard at its tallest point. However, this is likely not an issue as it’s a desktop dock—meaning you’ll tuck it in under your monitor and forget about it once set up.

It has four rubber feet that give it a reasonable grip, meaning it won’t slide around when you plug your earphones or SD card into the dock. Interestingly, it has a power button on the right corner, so you can turn it off when you’re not using it. Aside from the dock itself, you will also get a 140-watt DC adapter that plugs into the barrel jack at the back of the dock and a 72-cm Thunderbolt 4 cable for connecting your laptop.

Since this dock will likely permanently sit on your office table, it has a Kensington lock slot on the left side. This means you’re able to secure it and prevent anyone from taking it off your desk, which is important given its nearly $400 price point.

Seven USB Ports and More

The Revodok Max 313 is a 13-in-1 Thunderbolt 4 dock, so you’re getting a lot of ports. These are the ports that you get with this dock:

This gives you an astounding 13 ports in one brick, turning one Thunderbolt 4 port on your laptop into an absolute connectivity beast. The layout of the ports is also well thought out. The I/O at the rear of the dock are reserved for the items that you usually attach permanently to a desktop computer, like your mouse, keyboard, and ethernet cable, your displays, plus the Thunderbolt 4 that connects to your laptop.

On the other side, the six ports on the front of the dock are for those that you usually need to swap out, such as the card readers, the audio combo jack, and the three USB ports.

Powers Your Laptop and Other USB Gear

This dock can charge up to three devices simultaneously, so it can do more than just transfer data. It can also work as a charging dock that delivers up to 93 watts. The Thunderbolt 4 input port delivers 65 watts, so it should be more than enough for most mid-tier devices.

If you have a powerful gaming or desktop replacement laptop, 65 watts might not be enough, but you likely won’t need this dock if you have that kind of device anyway. But for all other thin-and-light devices, like the Dell XPS 13 which only offers two USB-C ports, then the Revodok Max 313 will give you so much more flexibility without making your computer bulky.

Aside from the 65-watt power delivery via the dock’s input, the Thunderbolt 4 display output on the dock can also deliver 15 watts of power. This should be more than enough for portable monitors, meaning you don’t need a separate power cable to power it, helping reduce the number of cables on your desk.

Lastly, the left-most USB-C port in front of the dock is rated for 18 watts, allowing you to recharge a phone (albeit somewhat slowly) or power up an external drive while transferring data.

Get a Triple 4K@60 Setup

Of course, one of the reasons why you would get a docking station for your laptop is so that you can enjoy a triple-monitor setup on devices without many display outputs—even gaming laptops. But what’s amazing about this dock is that it will let you enjoy a triple monitor setup, supporting up to three 4K displays running at 60Hz.

If you’re on a Windows PC and are not a fan of swiveling your head around, the Ugreen Revodok Max 313 can go as high as 8K@30 for just a single display, allowing you to enjoy eight million pixels on a single extra-large display.

But if you’re a MacBook user, you might have to temper your expectations a bit as multi-monitor support varies between devices. For example, if you’re only running a vanilla Apple Silicon laptop, you can only enjoy one external monitor (except if you have the 15-inch M3 MacBook Air, which lets you have two external monitors provided that its lid is closed). On the other hand, if your MacBook uses a ‘Pro’ Apple Silicon chip, you can use up to two external displays; while those armed with the ‘Max’ Apple silicon will give you up to four, allowing you to maximize the dock.

Furthermore, all MacBooks will limit you to 4K@60 for HDMI and DisplayPort, while the Thunderbolt port will give you up 5K@60. So, unfortunately, if you’re an Apple user, there’s no 8K for you.

Should You Buy the Ugreen Revodok Max 313?

TheUgreen Revodok Max 313is the perfect companion for those who like the reliability of wired connections but still need to move around every now and then. For example, if you split your time between working at home and in the office, this dock could save time by allowing you to plug and unplug all your home office peripherals in one go.

It is kind of pricey, though, at $400, so make sure that you’re able to enjoy all its features if you’re getting it. So, if your laptop (i.e., MacBook) does not let you have more than one external display, this might be an overkill device. Nevertheless, the gigabit ethernet, 65-watt charging capability, plethora of USB ports, and two card readers might be more than enough to justify the cost.
