Summary

One of the stand-out aspects of Marvel Comics’ originalUltimate Spider-Manwas the Ultimate Universe’s version of theGreen Goblin. Unlikethe original Green Goblin of Earth-616who was basically just a guy in a costume, Earth-1610’s Green Goblin was a literal goblin, as Norman Osborn’s body would morph into a hulking, hellish creature. The physically impossible nature of this Green Goblin’s body makes him much harder to bring to life than the original, but one cosplayer pulled it off in truly spectacular fashion.

In an Instagram post by userwens.1998, the photographer/digital artist shared one of their latest works. In a two-image slide, the artist features a cosplayer dressed as Spider-Man standing in Peter Parker’s high school. There is a haunting mist surrounding him, and Spider-Man looks absolutely terrified by what he’s up against. The first image only gives fans a sneak peek at what has Spider-Man so frightened, and it isn’t until the second that they can understand why for themselves.

In the second image, fans get a glorious full view of the Ultimate Green Goblin in terrifyingly realistic cosplay. His hulking frame, hellish features, and the fire covering his arms and glowing in his eyes are shown prominently in this image. It’s truly as if the Ultimate Green Goblin was pulled from the pages ofUltimate Spider-Manand brought to the real world, which is a testament to both the cosplayer and the photographer for bringing to life this utterly epic version of Spider-Man’s arch rival.

Spider-Man Repeats His Hated ‘Deal with the Devil’ - Can Marvel Nail It This Time?

Spider-Man’s most hated storyline is arguably “One More Day”, and now, Marvel is repeating it, as Spider-Man is making another ‘deal with the devil’.

Ultimate Green Goblin Cosplay is More Striking than the Original Comic

Ultimate Spider-Man#6 by Brian Michael Bendis, Bill Jemas, and Mark Bagley

One of the coolest things about this cosplay is that it didn’t just nail the look of Ultimate Green Goblin (and Ultimate Spider-Man, for that matter), but it managed to capture the scene in which the Green Goblin made his first full appearance in the Ultimate Universe. More than that, the cosplay did an even better job at introducing this menacing foe.

Like in the original comic, the cosplay shows Spider-Man facing off against the Green Goblin at Peter’s high school, since Norman Osborn knew Spider-Man’s secret identity and wanted to catch him off guard. However, what the comic failed to capture was the terrifying anticipation of what was in store for him. Parker sprang into action as Spider-Man and then was suddenly faced with the Green Goblin, as opposed to the cosplay, which built the suspense in a much more heart-pounding manner.

MCU’s Spider-Man played by Tom Holland with the original Green Goblin mask enlarged behind him.

This Ultimate Green Goblin Cosplay NEEDS to be Adapted in the MCU

While it’s true that the Green Goblin has already appeared in the MCU with Willem Dafoe reprising the iconic role, it’s also true that that Green Goblin already belonged to Tobey MaGuire’s Spider-Man. That means Tom Holland (who portrays the MCU’s main-continuity Spider-Man) needs his own Green Goblin, one that’s different from Willem Dafoe’s. And what better way to introduce a totally unique Gobby than with the one fromUltimate Spider-Man? It’s not as though the MCU is a stranger to adapting things from the Ultimate Universe, and this cosplay proves that the Ultimate Green Goblin would look amazing in live-action.

It would be incredible to see the Ultimate Green Goblin go toe-to-toe with the MCU’s Spider-Man in a live-action film, but even if Marvel Studios decides never to adapt this badass iteration of the character, fans needn’t be too upset. This cosplay is a perfect look at what the Ultimate Green Goblin would look like in live-action, asUltimate Spider-Man’s physically impossibleGreen Goblinis brought to life in truly mind-blowing fashion.
