This article contains SPOILERS for Sweet Home season 3
Summary
Park Gyu-young’s Yoon Ji-su is one ofSweet Home’s most beloved characters, yet one key reason means that she is absent from season 3. Yoon Ji-su was introduced inSweet Home’s first season as one of the series' most important characters. Her selfless nature makes her instrumental in helping the residents of Green Home in their quest for survival and it was suggested that she would likely play a bigger role in thethriller K-drama’s next installments. However, that proved not to be the case.
As the series’ final season,Sweet Homeseason 3’s endingbrought closure to the world of monsters and humans through its main characters of Cha Hyun-su (Song Kang), Lee Eun-yu (Go Min-si), Nam Sang-won (Lee Jin-uk) and Seo Yi-kyung (Lee Si-young). The world between monsters and humans became more blended than ever, with the introduction of neohumans and Cha Hyun-su’s drift to the monstrous side. ThoughSweet Home 3directly referenced many things from its previous two seasons, Yoon Ji-su was notably absent from the series thanks to an event in the second season.

Why Sweet Home Season 4 Is Not Happening (Was It Cancelled?)
Song Kang’s hit Netflix horror K-drama comes to an end as Sweet Home season 3 will be the show’s final, but why isn’t season 4 happening?
Park Gyu-young’s Ji-su Died In Sweet Home Season 2, Episode 3
Yoon Ji-su Deserved A Lot Better
Despite being a fan favorite throughoutSweet Home’s first season, Park Gyu-young’s character, Yoon Ji-su, unfortunately, died inSweet Homeseason 2, episode 3.Ji-su ultimately perished after her leg became trapped in a collapsing stadiumfollowing a planned bombing attack by the President. This came as a big shock as not only was Ji-su a beloved character, her webtoon counterpart played an important part inSweet Home’s story. However, asSweet Home’s TV show diverged away from the source material, it resulted in the loss of Park Gyu-young’s incredible character.
Yoon Ji-su’s tragic death one of manycharacter deaths inSweet Home 2. However, her character was one of the saddest. Ji-su died saving Kim Young-su(Choi Go), the only child left from Green Home following the death of his older sister, Su-young (Heo Yool) in the episode before. This is very befitting of her character, whose selfless nature had been a welcome presence inSweet Home. Yet, Lee Eun-yu’s reaction to watching her friend die is harrowing and is one of the most devastating moments inSweet Home, especially as it lost one of its best characters so soon.

Sweet Home Season 3 Does Not Address Ji-su’s Death
There Were Many Flashbacks But No Mention of Ji-su
One of the best things aboutSweet Home 3was how it brought the series full circle. There were several references to the show’s first series through flashbacks and reappearances from characters such as Lee Do-hyun’s Lee Eun-hyuk, who although was a very different character, helped to tie the series together nicely.Sweet Homeeven ended with the survivors and monster humans returning to Green Homeafter having come to a mutual truce. However, there was surprisingly still no mention of Park Gyu-young’s Yoon Ji-su.
Sweet Homeinstead chooses to mention these characters in passing or through flashbacks, rather than tie down their characters in grief.

Directly following Yoon Ji-su’s death,Sweet Home 2introduced a time skipthat catapulted the story forward by almost a year. Though this effectively shows the reality of living in a world of monsters, it doesn’t show the impact of some ofSweet Home’s biggest losses on its surviving characters.Sweet Homeinstead chooses to mention these characters in passing or through flashbacks, rather than tie down their characters in grief. This does work well for the plot’s advancement, but is disappointing for characters such as Ji-su who was so important toSweet Home.
