DCU’s Wonder Woman Prequel Gets First Real Update In 17 Months From James Gunn
DC Studios boss James Gunn shares a new and crucial update on the Wonder Woman prequel TV show, Paradise Lost, for the upcoming DC Universe.
Why A Wonder Woman Animated Show Would Be Perfect For The DCU
Wonder Woman was a staple of the DCEU, with two solo films,Justice League, and various appearances inBatman v Superman,The Flash, andShazam! Fury of the Gods. Her character was generally well received, soit could be beneficial for the DCU to reintroduce her in her own animated series before she appears in other projects.Wonder Woman’s mythology will also be explored withupcoming DC showParadise Lost, a live-action prequel that will explore Themyscira before she was born, but a series focused on Diana Prince could be a good way to build from the story told in the prequel show.
WithCreature Commandosreleasingin December 2024 andBlue Beetlegetting a follow-up show,it’s clear the DCU wants to utilize animated shows to help flesh out the new universe. There has been recent news of how Wonder Woman will be incorporated into the greater DCU, but having her own animated series would be perfect for her and would help to get viewers acquainted with a new take on the character. It would also help expand on Wonder Woman’s Greek God mythology deeper than if she was relegated to solo films and team ups.

James Gunn’s plans for Wonder Woman and how she will fit within the DCU haven’t really been revealed yet, aside from a prequel series and mentions of wanting to incorporate her into more animated projects going forward. With what direction to take the character being unclear at the moment, bringingWonder Womaninto the upcoming universe through her own animated series could be the best way to do it.
