The answer to today’s Wordle is “FROND”.
The word “Frond” is a noun which refers to large leaves, particularly on palm trees or ferns. It’s often paired with “palm,” as in “palm fronds” to denote the hefty structures that palms and fern trees boast. A frond is essentially a large leaf, but is only really used when referring to specific flora.
According tothe Online Etymology Dictionary, the origin of “Frond” is the Latin word “frons,” meaning “leafy branch, green bough, foliage.” The use of the word seems to be on the decline, with usage peaking in the 1860s.
