Higher-tier characters can make things easier inZenless Zone Zeroas some candidates have better damage output, while others are less likely to fall in combat. A few Agents also have simpler combat mechanics, making them more reliable.

Keep in mind that tiers are very miniscule in the overall gameplay ofZenless Zone Zero. Picking the “best” and the “worst” characters mightonly improve performance by a few percentage points. Using units you already own for free orpulled characters inZZZis better than neglecting an important role entirely. Always stick to having at least one attacker, support character, and elemental attributes that exploit a boss' weakness.

How Much Zenless Zone Zero Is Like Genshin Impact

As the latest game from developer HoYoverse, ZZZ has some big shoes to fill. How much is Zenless Zone Zero like Genshin Impact?

All Character Tiers In ZZZ

Some Agents Are Easier To Manage

Unlike other miHoYo games, the main protagonists,ZZZ’s Wise and Belle, are not playable in combat. You won’t have a fully customizable Agent as you did with Stelle and Caelus inHonkai Star Railor Lumine and Aether inGenshin Impact. This means you will have to fully rely on Agents gained from the story or acquired via the Gacha system:Signal Search. Each Agent has their ownfighting style, attribute, andfactionthat can play a role in combat.

In some cases, utilizing the faction bonuses may be more important to the whole team than a single strong character. If you were planning on usingKoleda Belobog, it may be better to takeBen BiggerandGrace Howardbecause they are all part ofBelobog Heavy Industries.

Victoria Housekeeping has some of the strongest Agents in Zenless Zone Zero

S-Tier

S-tier agents have the most upward potential for maximizing damage. They work well in most team compositions or bring out the best of other characters. Investing your upgrade items and Dennies, either earned from playing the standard content or viamonthly Active Codesis a good idea.

Acquisition

Lycaon

CanStunby using just Charged Attack. Works extremely well with other Ice-Attribute characters.

Grace

Can deal out consistent Electric damage withShock. Invaluable when paired with other Electric Agents.

Soldier 11

Currently, the only character that is both Fire and Attack. This makes her mandatory for a Fire team. Unfortunately, no other Obol Squad members have been released yet.

Ellen

Extremely quick and reliable damage output. Gets even better when paired with both Rina and Lycaon.

Rina

Rina can increase the chance of ignoring the enemy’s defenses. This makes her one of the strongest support options in all ofZenless Zone Zero.

A-Tier

The A-Tier Agents also have good upward potential butusually are gated by some personal mechanic or circumstance. You typically need to build the rest of your team around them rather than placing them with anyone available inZenless Zone Zero.

However, with the right setup, A-Tier can be devastating. YouTuberGod Doggosshowcased how to turn Piper into an incredible damage dealer with the correct gear setup.

Soukaku

Can easily improve the damage output of other Agents. But, she has no faction-aligned teammates to further improve herself.

Story Chapter 2

Lucy

Summons aGuard Boarthat significantly improves damage output. However, Lucy herself doesn’t add much once the minion is deployed.

Agent-based Signal Searches

Koleda

Very good Stun potential, but still mostly works best with other Fire-users.

Piper

Once she uses her Ultimate, she can dish out absurd damage. But she is a bit lackluster without it.

Nicole

Very good at taking on groups of foes. Ether damage isn’t the most reliable duringZenless Zone Zero’s launch, but may become stronger.

Start of Story Campaign

B-Tier

The B-Tier Agents are highly situational or only work with the right team composition. You might have acquired them mostly while Signal Searching for others inZenless Zone Zero, especially before triggeringZZZ’s Pity System. Still, with the correct gear builds, a B-Tier can excel. Just don’t plan on creating a three-person team solely with them.

Nekomata

Another good option for defeating waves of minions. But, she deals out poor damage to bosses.

Ben

High defense and can protect others. But Ben is among the slowest characters inZenless Zone Zero.

Billy

Mostly a free tutorial character that iseasy to build around. Billy has lower damage potential late-game.

C-Tier

Finally, the C-Tier agents are for specific encounters. They can devastate foes designed explicitly for their attribute or fighting style. Having them at least in reserve and ready to switch in can be excellent. But, outside these fights, it can be hard to justify using rare resources on them.

Anton

Deals low damage if the target isn’t already under Shock. However, these can occur with even basic attacks.

Anby

Very reliant on Special Attack and Energy to stackDaze. Can also Daze via basic attacks, but only on certain hits.

Corin

Completely single-target based, which can be detrimental when fighting groups of foes. Corin does have uses when you know you’ll face large single targets.

Milestone Reward

While these are the current character tiers during the launch ofZenless Zone Zero, they might not last long. A new Agent,Zhu Yuan, is set to be released before the end of July. She is Ether-based, which could boost someone like Nicole. It is best to reassess Agent strength after each patch cycle, along with other balance updates.
